Identifying future priorities for community services at the Eastern LCP Conference
On Thursday 24th November 2022, Matt (our Community Mental Health Development Lead for Exeter, East & Mid Devon) represented the Alliance at the Eastern Local Care Partnership (LCP) Conference in Exeter.
Hosted by the Academic Health Science Network (HSN), the conference gathered around 100 representatives from the health and social care sector across Exeter, East, and Mid Devon to discuss existing and potential new services.
The first half of the conference saw from the Eastern LCP about the work they have done towards supporting the mental health of children and young people, unpaid carers, and those struggling with loneliness or isolation.
The second half was a creative discussion facilitated by Future Bound to explore potential new priorities for 2023 — everything from better funding models support VCSE, to utilising Exeter University and its resources better, supporting people through the impacts of the cost of living crisis, and giving NHS staff time to volunteer in their communities were discussed.
After the event, Matt commented: “It was so good to see so many of the organisations making a big impact in our communities here and getting their voices heard. The health and social care sector across eastern Devon has such an amazing and diverse collection of VCSE organisations accomplishing incredible things. By all partnering together and allowing those embedded in the community to lead the direction in which we move, really transformational things can be achieved.”
